So long, farewell, I wish you well but its over...

I'm breaking up with carbs.  Yep, I have decided to commit myself to two weeks of low carb and see how it goes.  I have a lot of trepidation about this journey but yanno what I'm kinda excited too.  I finished the last of my cereal today, I enjoyed a kebab for dinner and though omg this could be my last one for a while, can I do this!?

But its worth a shot right?  Man it so goes against everything the idea of eating fat food.  I've spent the past week flip flopping back and forward, reading up, looking at recipes, thinking omg really how how how.  But the fact of the matter is I am a sugar junky and they past month I have had terrible carb cravings.  Cookies, bread, muffins, pasta, nom nom nom.  I just can't stop.  My weight is still sitting around 85, but I want it to drop dammit.

So wish me luck, for anyone who is doing low carb any advice?  Recipes you want to share?

  1. Best of luck! :) I remember when I did low carb for a week and shed 5 lbs. I gotta say though it's really difficult because you get tired a lot more. Keep up updated!

  2. Sorry I wish I could offer you some recipes, I tried low carb a few times and it was really hard for me since I'm not a huge meat person. Good luck though and definitely let us know how you are doing! When I had my medical appt. this week the nurse suggested I try more lean protein, but I really don't know if I can handle it... I might end up on the low carb wagon with you soon!

  3. Yeh I'm not much of a meat eater either, I eat chicken breast with no skin and thats about it. I'm not a huge fan of bacon which of course low carbers love, but I figured I'd give it a go.

This morning it was two pieces of bacon and two boiled eggs, made by hubby because its mother's day :) And now I'm going to go make some fritata for lunch this week (lucky for me I love frittata even if I don't know how to spell it!).

  4. A low carb diet got me overweight, so be careful. (You have been doing so well with your diet and all that you probably don't need to hear that) I, however, was young (and dumb), and perfectly healthy physically, but I thought that I was too fat. I cut carbs for a month and dropped twenty pounds, and then started eating them again and gained fifty. Thirty of that I have yet to loose, but I am optimistic.
I'd recommend limiting them, but not cutting out entirely. Maybe cut out things that are totally not needed (cookies and muffins), and make sure that the only pasta and bread that you do eat is whole grain and a reasonable portion.
On the other hand, sometimes it is easier to avoid trigger foods entirely.
You'll figure it out though- you have already come this far!
